Well done on your participation in this year's Science Fair! We had 95% participation for the night of the Science Fair. Students who were unable to complete their assignment will be working on it this coming week at lunch so they can earn their Inquiry and Presentation grades.
Pictures to be posted soon!
Do you know what our mystery tool of the month is?
What is it used for?
What units are used for it?
This space will soon contain pictures of classes doing science!
Can you spot the frog? He is using great camouflage!
Each class will have a poster of a different habitat. Their challenge is to create an animal that will "hide" in the habitat. Animals should be cut out ready to be placed in their habitat. Students should know the name of their animal and 2 other facts about it to tell their class.
Primary 1: Tropical Rainforest
Primary 2: Cold Desert (Tundra)
Primary 3: Coral Reef
Primary 4: Savannah (Grassland, Prairie, Pampas)
Primary 5: Hot Desert
Primary 6: Deciduous Forest
Have fun drawing, colouring and cutting out your animal! Try to do one that is different from all the others in your class.
Be curious about the world around you! Practice doing experiments that interest you throughout the year. Here are some ideas:
Baking: Chemical changes are responsible for most of the yummy treats we enjoy. Have fun playing with recipes to make your own versions!
Pet care: How do you help look after your pet? Try out different training techniques (Biology). Look into different play toys, treats or bedding (Chemistry and Biology). Create a chart to show your results! Remember to check in with your adults to make sure what you are doing is safe for your pet and you.
How Toys Work: test out what your toys can do, or maybe make your own toys! How do they work? What forces do they use?
Rocks and Shells: notice the rocks and shells around you. Collect or take pictures of them (be sure not to collect anything alive or endangered) to make a collection. Can you identify them? What do they look like under a magnifying glass?
Growing Things: Do you have a "green thumb"? Grow something that looks pretty, or something to eat.
