Welcome to Primary One Doers
Dear parents / guardians,
I am looking forward to this new school year. There are lots of new things to be learned and new friends to be made.
The first year of school is always exciting as we become familiar with friends and establish new routines. I hope that together we can help your child have a successful Primary One experience!
Communication is key in my classroom! Please always feel free to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns.
My goal for this year is to help your child to be an independent and responsible learner, as well as, to show him/her how to make responsible choices.
Just remember that my door is always open and we will work together throughout the year to ensure a successful year for your child. Let the fun-filled learning begin!
Sincerely,
Kathy Doers

How Parents Can Help at Home
Parents are an important part of a child’s education. Research shows that parental interest and involvement in school has a positive effect on a child’s academic progress. We will try to keep you informed about your child’s progress and the activities at school.
Here are some ways to help your child be a successful student:
1. Take an interest in your child’s work by looking at his or her papers. Praise work that is well done.
2. Establish a regular time and place for your child to do the classwork.
3. Practice the weekly spelling words with your child.
4. Encourage your child to read every day at home. When appropriate, read aloud to your child. Reading is an important skill for all academic work.
5. Basic mathematical skills need to be reviewed regularly at home.
Please go over this work with your child. Also refer to our weekly Newsletter Bulletin for new and ongoing assignments/concepts.
Parent involvement at home is so helpful. Your child will love knowing that you are interested in his or her schoolwork and activities.
Thank you for your help! Keep Safe!
