Ongoing learning goals for P2:

Read daily.  Talk to children about the books they read.  Discuss characters, settings, and plot.  Make connections to the child's own life or lessons learned.

Use coins to pay for small items.  Give coins as a reward for chores completed.  Help children to keep count of how much they have earned.  Start with dimes and pennies. At the end of P2 students need to be able to count any combination of coins.

Teach children to read an analogue and digital clock.  At the end of P2, students must be able to tell time to the 5 minute markers, and know quarter past, quarter to and half past the hour.

Practice proper letter formation and neat handwriting.

Use a hundreds chart to practice counting up, down, skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.  Look for patterns.  Be able to find any number by using patterns in rows and columns.

Learn how to tie shoe lacings.

Learn birthday, address, parent phone numbers or anyone else who is an emergency contact.
