When a child enters school, parents must complete a medical record of their child’s medical background and immunizations. The school nurse maintains these records. The nurse’s office should be notified of any changes in the health of a student, such as allergies or new medical conditions. The school should be notified of all medications that the student brings onto the campus. All instances of communicable diseases should be reported to the school nurse. A letter of notification highlighting signs and symptoms of the disease is subsequently sent to parents.
