Dear Francis Patton Primary School family:
Greetings! My name is Melvina Warren. I am excited to introduce myself to you as your new School Counselor for this upcoming 2020-2021 school year. This is my 18 year as a Professional School Counselor and I can’t wait for you to get to know me and to work with your amazing students! As the School Counselor, my actions will continually be motivated by a student first attitude - your student and their success inside and outside of the classroom is of the upmost importance to myself and Francis Patton.
ALL ABOUT ME!!
Primary school is a time when students develop attitudes concerning school, self, peers, social groups and family. It is also a time when students develop decision-making skills and character values. As a Professional School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal and social development of all students by taking a preventative approach. This is delivered as I operate through a comprehensive school counseling program under four (4) components: 1. Classroom Guidance; 2. Individual Planning; 3. Responsive Services; 4. System Support. In addition, there will be times that I will provide guidance to students in individual and/or groups sessions as I address specific life situations or emotional issues that may interfere with school adjustment. In some cases, I may recommend that additional help be sought outside of the school. During the 1st school term, I will be scheduling zoom meetings with every P1 parent to conduct the P1 Counselor screening and every P5 parent and their child to conduct their Career Planning Meeting.
I am looking forward to working closely with all of you and if you have any questions or concerns for me to address, I can be easily reached via email at mwarren1@moed.bm or on the school’s main line at 478-3303 ext. 2213.
Sincerely,
MELVINA L. WARREN
